Family Gracillariidae

Gracillariidae is a fairly large and diverse family collectively referred to as "leaf-mining moths" (although it is not the only family in which leaf mining is the dominant mode of larval life). The family is divided into three subfamiles, all of which are represented in Illinois:

Eleven genera in Subfamily Gracillariinae

Six genera in Subfamily Lithocolletinae

One genus in Subfamily Phyllocnistinae
